Making Theatre Props out of Household Objects
Mindfulness, Embodiment, and Drama > Drama
Description
In this lesson, students learn to create theatre props from ordinary household objects. Props are ordinary objects (e.g., a purse, a box, a hat) that help support a theatrical or dramatic story.
Materials
- Access to kitchen cupboards, drawers or other safe, appropriate household items that could be used as theatre props.
Activity Notes
- Discover ways to transform ordinary items into theatre props.
- Explore the many ways a single item can be used as different props for drama. Perhaps a toothbrush? A scarf? A pillow? An empty paper towel roll?
Artist Notes
- Try using two or more props together in a dramatic scene.
